longer-lasting and more natural looking materials in dentistry has resulted in dentists and
patients today having several choices when it comes to selecting materials to repair worn,
damaged or decayed teeth or replace missing teeth.

Materials used for filling teeth must have certain characteristics – the most important points to
mention are strength and durability. They must be able to withstand chewing forces and obviously
some teeth have to withstand more pressure than others. Therefore, the material selected for
restoration will also be dependent on the position of the tooth that needs restoring.

and ceramic.

Composite resins are a mixture of acrylic resin, silica and finely ground glass-like particles
that provide excellent durability and resistance to fracture and will withstand most levels of
chewing pressure.

Ceramic restorations are recommended for areas within your mouth that need to withstand greater
chewing forces such as in back molar teeth or to repair cavities that are considered extensive.
